Protect O Plate for 67 Cutlass

I am looking for help to understand all the data on the Protect O Plate from my 67 Cutlass Holiday Coupe. Last night and today I tried "Googling" this info to see if I could find anything and I have had no luck. In fact, I stumbled across this Forum when I was searching. I got some the "easy" stuff out of the way like it's a '67 Cutlass Holiday Coupe, made on the 5th week of November in Lansing MI.

Here's a site that has a lot of 1967 information. If you haven't come across it yet you might find some good data there.

OLDSmobility.com - The 1967 Oldsmobile Cutlass and 442 Resource - 1967 Oldsmobile Factory Brochures, Pamphlets and Manuals

In addition, a member here going by Koda has collected information on the data tag mounted on the firewall.

I've seen both of those links...they were helpful with getting some of the info that I have so far.
Last night I learned about the Protect O Plate, so this is all new for me. LOL

The plate has, on the top row, Trim Color, Paint Color, VIN
Second row, Engine serial number on the left
Third row, transmission number

From the VIN, and the other stuff, you have a Pewter (P) Cutlass Hardtop (3617) with a black roof (2) and black bench (920). You have a 330 low compression engine. (W######L). ML means 2 barrel V8 setup Jetaway transmission.

Get a copy of the 1967 Cutlass 442 Assembly manual. Go to the first Section 0, Page 1.01 and it will show you the Protect O Plate codes. The 01000 shows it has power steering. The BSA means it is a Buick differential with a 2.78 ratio open. The ML means it is a Jetawy transmission followed by the date code. The 920 P2 is the trim code.

The price has jumped $5.00. But you could pick it up less the shipping.

You'll need the 1967 Oldsmobile Chassis Service Manual (CSM). Purchase an original OEM manual. Quality on most are very good - research on your own, some have shipping others not. The CSM is your bible. Don't buy a new one (they lack a lot, and most are poor copies of originals). Get an original OEM CSM - it also contains the wiring diagram.
