The rodents spared a few things in my glove box

What info does this reveal?

A quick Google search 'splains it all. In a nutshell...

"The Protect-o-Plate was a small stamped metal plate that was sent, by the factory, with each vehicle produced. It was stamped with basic identification data about components like engine, carburetor, transmission and rear axle. It also contained factory installed options and the month of manufacture"

I have one for my '70 Nova. I wish I had it for the Cutlass.

Sorry the critters got to all that documentation.

I haven't seen one like the one shown, slightly chewed, by the O.P or the example shown. Is that type dealer provided or mfg.?

On Edit, I see they were mostly provided by the dealer after 1966, or so, but reverse embossed on the metal plate that most might be familiar with. I guess by 1970 some GM dealers changed that process. Mine is metal with the reverse embossing.

The one on my '69 4-4-2 is plastic and the car was originally purchased from a San Francisco Olds dealership.

I'm thinking the part you covered up is the first owner's name and address.

02-340: 02 is the Olds zone and 340 defines the Olds dealership within that zone that sold the car.

1 15: I don't know what that means.

06-03-70: June 3, 1970 - the day the dealership sold the car to its first owner.

342670E188506: That's the vehicle identification number to which the P-O-P belongs. 3=GM division=Oldsmobile. 42=model series=Cutlass Supreme. 67=body type=convertible. 0=model year=1970. E=assembly plant= Linden NJ. 188506=assembly plant sequential number.

00011: I don't know what that means.

Yes I think it's the first owners name and address,
Just did not want to step on someone's privacy

Been lurking while looking for means of Identifying engine. Any chance of someone having the complete breakdown for this one

Been looking for a solid ident on engine. I was luc

ky enough to have both books, I'm 3rd owner. It's still in rough shape though. Trying to do as much prep as possible before I rebuild, and I would like to nail down exact engine before pulling it.

I have one for my old Rallye 350, it is like the example pictured. It also has the 1-15 on it. Car was a 01A build on the cowl tag. I wonder if the 1-15 might be a date code of when it was released or shipped?

Just for fun, mine was in-service on 03-03-70 with 00003 miles!
