I bought another 62 f-85

I went to look at this car today, 62 f-85. The seller started it up for me and it sounded great, almost built up. It has the original engine, 2bbl, 15" wheels and a three speed column shift with a split bench and seatbelts. If i get it my plan is to just clean it up and put a t-10 4 speed i have in it and go to the strip. Im not seeing my 62 cutlass running anytime soon and want to hit up the strip as much as i can this year.

I thought the air cleaner was some sort of bucket turned upside down in the first pic.
Very cool car, nice find.
What engine is that?

It's the 215 v8. It has a base that sits on the carb like normal and holds the filter then the top fits over and mates with the intake

It does have it's rust issues but I'm not worried about having a show car or restoring it. It's just going to be a car to take out and have fun and get me drag racing experience before my cutlass is done

They did on the Buick-derived 215. The 215 (and the 198 V6) were precursors to the small block Buick family. Many later SBB parts interchange with those on the 215, and the 225/231/3.8 V6 motors also derive from the 198/215 lineage. Olds used unique block and head castings that are slightly different from those on the Buick (and Rover) 215s, but the basic architecture was penned by Buick.

All the "trim" is still on the car, it did come with the front bumper and grill/headlight assmbley.

Yeah, that's a base-model F-85, so except for the aforementioned bumper and grille parts, what you see is what trim there is.

By the way, PM me if you plan to sell the 15" wheels.

Even if I part out the car and get rid of it I have a 62 nova the wheels will fit on.

I took it to the car wash today to clean it up, I thought it had a posi cause it spun both tires going back on the trailer but its not. After we got it back home my dad and I went over the carb and adjusted the timing and it runs and sounds better. \/ \/ video link
