Polish, polish and repeat

I'm starting to polish the wheels up (1 at a time), I will also attack the door handles and tail lights and the mirror ....right now I'll probably start with this wheel. It has baking soda on it and I sprayed it with vinegar

....I'm going to repaint it (semi gloss black) and attempt to shine up those 5 little 'D' shaped pieces. I'll be using 'brasso' and some of me elbow grease. This will be the spare so no trim ring here.

If I had steal wool I would The brasso seems to be enough at least for the spare wheel. Thanks for the tip. I'll keep some on hand next time.👍

Should I clear coat after the new black? Too much?

Does anyone here have a picture showing what it should look like when you pop the trunk?

Thanks!!!

I interpereted this thread as Polish, polish and repeat as the smoked tube of meat by the same name. Maybe I'm just hungry right now but I was expecting a nice recipe...

Interesting (to me). I have the chrome + lower body color 15" wheels. I always thought those little rings were removable?

So just my opinion but why not remove the trim pieces and the center cap and polish them off the wheel?

What should I do to preserve this middle part of the center cap? Clear coat? It's the for the spare...it'll be in the trunk (mostly).

I didnt want to risk damaging anything. The cap I did take and shine up inside. The spare doesn't get a trim ring (thanks Joe).
The other wheels are getting new trim rings and center caps (repos)

Yes, but old and easy enough to polish (and hold) while on.

Here's one taillight before I clean it up. Should I hit the back with a flat black primer? Any tips on these lenses? I think I'm gonna scrub them with my wife's toothpaste (it works on yellowed headlights) and follow that with a bit of wax?

We have the same taste it seems, I much prefer savory to sweet.
Maybe using a satin instead of flat black primer would work on the tail light housing. I don't remeber them being flat but maybe someone else could chime in on it.

Maybe I'm missing something, but the kitchen chemist in me says this is pointless. Baking soda is a Base that neutralizes vinegar/acid. The two together turn into water once the carbon dioxide bubbles are gone.

Essentially you're correct. It's fun watching though.
