Are plastic window roller guides/ bushings pressed onto the stud in 1972?

It looks like the rollers (to me they look like plastic bushing pushed onto a socket) in my tailgate are the same as the door window rollers. I found these that look correct, but they say they aren't for a 1972. http://www.dansclassic.com/product.c...63%26dnum%3D24

These are for a 1972, but they are much too big compared to my 11/16" bushings pictured below.

I also checked InlineTube, but maybe I'm using the wrong search terms because they have nothing.

How do I replace these? Is the plastic bushing pressed onto my old window lifter stud or does that have to be drilled out and replaced with a complete new stud and roller?

The plastic part isn't pressed on as it has to rotate freely.
One method to replace it is to grind the back side of the stud flush to the arm. It will then come out allowing you to change the roller. The new rollers need to be the same size as the old because it needs to ride in the track without binding. You then can either weld the stud back to the arm or center drill it and tap the hole and secure with a screw/bolt and washer. I'd be careful if welding it due to the heat transfer. You don't want to melt the nylon roller wheel.

Thanks! So these should be just right even though they say they aren't? ;-)

Yes, they work just fine. I bought the replacement rollers from the same vendor. No problems.. I usually just drill the buck tail off of the stud like one would remove a rivet from an aircraft. Drill smaller than the diameter of the tail and when you get deep enough, put a pin punch in the hole. Put a little prying action on and the tail will just snap off. This prevents any scarring to the galvanized surface. Also,...this job is going to be almost impossible to do in the door.. Remove the regulator. (Or you could buy threaded stud rollers, and just nut them on)

Thanks for the good removal tip. I was even going to try not to remove the rivet at all and seeing if I could snap the the roller over the end of the rivet head or do you think that's impossible? If not, I was going to try to stake the rivet similar to the original, but I'm not sure it would be easy to do with the regulator still installed in the door?...

Hah! And I just read your edited remark, that makes my above statement mute ;-)...

There is no way you can snap the roller over the stud.

Ok, thanks. Then I guess, I have to remove the glass and regulators. I wish I had just taken the glass out before I got grinding splatter on it. Now, I have to remove them anyway. Also, to do the glass channels... :-(
