Pivot shaft grease fitting took a hit.

I don't know when but sometime in the past the upper control arm grease fitting got smashed and it was pushed into the pivot shaft housing. I can feel the tip of the fitting and it will move up and down but it will not unscrew and come out(threads are striped). The question is will this do any damage to the pivot pin if I ran it for three days or so. I t just happens that my wife and I are headed out for the coast for a few days and I would like to take the Old's.I could cover the fitting with something to minimize dirt getting in to the shaft or some other Bandage till we get back.... Any opinions....Tedd

Here is a poor pic My camera wont focus up close.

I agree. You should be able to make the trip without problems. The bandage would help to keep the water & crud out. After the trip, when you have time, it should be a straightforward repair. You might also want to check caster, camber, & toe-in after the work is done.

Thanks all, I was leaning towards taking the trip with the problem fixed or not. Half the fun is cruising in a area that's new to us. Hopefully the weather will allow the top to be down....Tedd
