Anybody have a photo of a 59 394 engine painted correctly? Not sure what the valve covers should look like (color) or whether they had any markings on them. I have chrome covers but would like to go original if I can. Thanks.

Assuming your engine is a 371, it would have been painted gold. If a 394, it would have been painted green. The correct colors are available from Bill Hirsch.

 

Thanks Dave. It is a 394 and I have the Hirsch correct paint on order. My question had more to do with identifying the correct valve covers and their color as well as the correct air cleaner colors. I know I don't have a high compression engine but have seen a variety of air cleaner configurations and not sure which is original. I also didn't get anything with the car to hold the spark plug wires and am wondering what was original there? Photos would be great but I'll take what I can get........

As I do not have a '59, kind of hard to be of more help. If it was like my '60, the valve covers would be smooth. That is about all I can tell you.
