picked up my omega !!

Finally picked up my 74' Omega yesterday. Ready to get started on the build.V__9118.jpg

Photo(1).jpg

I have a few Questions. Hoping someone can help with.
First will these qtr. panels work on the omega? http://www.ss396.com/nova/RWA-X68R.html
And does anyone know if any disc brakes from other models or years will work on this car. This is the first oldsmobile I have worked on in several years and the first omega i have ever worked on so any tips or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Any of the 69-72 A or F body
spindles and discs will work I believe.
Can't help with the qrts. though.

Novas are your best source if you don't have any luck

Not quite. 67-72 A-body, 67-69 F-body, 68-74 X-body all use the same disk spindles. Of course, the 67-68 cars will have four piston calipers.

By the way, I just purchased disk conversion parts for my 64 VC at Carlisle. Spindles, splash shields, caliper brackets, front and back rubber hoses, and all stainless lines except the front-to-back line (no one makes the VC line) were $260 delivered from Right Stuff. I got the 67-68 style metering valve from Inline for $65, along with a short pushrod for the 64 booster ($4) to accommodate the dual circuit M/C. I got a generic "Corvette" dual bale M/C for $50 and a 10 psi residual pressure valve (all parts brand new repros). Rotors and calipers are available at any auto parts store. I'll have to make my own front-to-back line.

Thanks for the lesson Joe.
Real quick, what makes/models
are the X body? May sound stupid,
but I don't care. Learning is a good thing.

No problem. Nova, Omega, Ventura, Apollo (the first letters of which spell N-O-V-A, by the way).

Thats great.I see you have the rocker moldings, whatever you do don't scrap those. They are practically non existent.same way with the rubber bumper strips and the tail light bezels.
As far as for the repair panels 39.95 sounds to good to be true.Don't throw anything away thinking you'll replace it.
railguy
PS I think the rocker moldings reay make the car.

I'm thinking of blacking everything out when i do the paint anyway. If I do i will try to save all the chrome thats in really good shape and try to find some replacements that dont look as good

The X-body names varied over the years of production (anyone remember the X-body F-85?). The NOVA acronym comes from the first year of production of each.

As I noted above, I had to buy the short pushrod between the booster and M/C. The single circuit M/Cs use a long pushrod that will not work with dual circuit M/Cs. Inline sells the short pushrod for $4. Unfortunately, you pretty much need to disassemble the booster to swap it (at least on the Morainne boosters).

Didn't the Omega have the F 85 name added to it in later years.I'm sure someone posted that somewhere.

Which marker light bezel do you need?I'm sure I have some.If the tail light bezels are in good shape and you're just going to paint them maybe we can work out a trade.I have several of those in painting condition.

I need the rear passenger side bezel. Sorry but the taillight bezels aren't in very good shape or I would be willing to work out a trade.

I'm pretty sure Venture started in 70 or 72 where The Apollo and Omega started in 73.Side note The Apollo was renamed Skylark in 75. GM felt the Apollo name held it back, probably right.
Ever hear that story that Nova translates to "no go" in spanish.Which reminds me did you Know that in one of the south American Countries.I can't which you could buy a 68-72 body style nova up until 78.I think they were called a Chevy not Nova or no go.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
