Picked up a 69 442 after selling my 71 about 10 years ago.
Been looking for a 69 442 Convertible for a long time. The owner was a great guy and sorry to see it go. He knew he wouldn't finish it so he let it go. Options include pw, pb, a/c, disc brakes, power locks, power seat, tilt, buckets, console, trunk release, am/fm, power antenna, rear bumper pad, horn ring, air shocks. It needs a lot of work but it is a California car and is solid.
I've already got some valve covers and an air cleaner coming from a couple of our members. It runs very well. The guy I got it from had it for 27 years. He had quite a story of how he got it in California and got it back here. It was hit on the front left and the hood, bumper and left front fender were bolted on many years back.
I happen to think the '69 convertible is the purest design they offered back then. There just isn't an awkward angle outside or in on those cars. I'm admittedly biased. Enjoy it!

MN71W30 - congrats! That 69 is loaded! Mine is quite the opposite with only PS as a power option. We have a club member with a 69 442 convertible in Saffron yellow with a black interior and is a nice combo if you keep it stock.
I'm on the final push. New top, new interior, all new suspension, exhaust. Etc.
Congrats! Lookin' good. The top looks to be a first rate installation -- it's hard to get them hung right. Mine still has a few faint C-pillar wrinkles.
I think that's the 8th or 9th top I installed. I came up with a way to attach the top material on a table that gets things very close and even. I made every mistake possible during the process. I have removed the window roof seals and re stapled the corners to try and tighten the C pillar wrinkles on most of the tops I've installed. Wrinkles can be tough to get out. A hot summer day seems to help.

Might have to bring mine over to Wisconsin and let you take a crack at it. As it is now, I figure that I pretty much never drive the car with the top up anyway.
Man, I wrestled with that strip issue for years. As you probably know, the '69 442 had standard pinstripes around the hood bulges. My car is Topaz and had the black pinstripes originally. When I finally painted it a few years ago, I decided to keep it original and went with the pinstripes rather than the two wide stripes. I think it's one of those things where everybody does it and people who don't know these cars just think they all had them. I like to be different so kept it original. Not sorry I did.
I really like that dark blue.
I painted it Indigo blue. A GM color from the 90's. The car was yellow as you can see from the windshield post. I always liked the dark blue 69's over the years. I think the 69's look good in any color. I just couldn't do the yellow. I'm going to hold off on the wide stripes for now. I want to make some white paper ones and lay them on the hood to make sure I like them. It came with Pontiac wheels, I gave them away. I put my 70 Chevelle SS wheels on it and bought some rocket stickers for the caps. I'll be running the Torq thrust wheels for a while.
Hey Davey
Have you thought about the "wrap" vinly material style for stripes.. Maybe you can get some o' those and then peel'em backoff if you decide you need to change them..?????????.
I'd go with the outline pin stripes on the hood. Everybody seems to comment on those on my 69 Cutlass S convertible. If you can go with painted pin stripes over tape stripes.
The blue is sweet. It's nice that you seen to have all the small bits and pieces. Sad the all the exterior stainless was removed, that what makes the 69 pop IMO. Hope you can add it all back.
A word of caution when putting those long stainless trim pieces on the quarters. They're held on with very unique plastic clips. Several suppliers sell these but my experience is the ones from Fusick are the closest match. The poor quality version(s) will ruin your day in a hurry. The originals each had a small o-ring on them to seal the holes in the quarters. The aftermarket parts sold are the plastic clips only. You have to get a little creative with silicone or another sealing agent to make things water proof.
