Hi all -
This is related to my Wanted ad for a CW Harrison radiator ('72 455/M20 w/ no HD cooling or A/C), and I've read through a decade's worth of related posts on here about Harrison radiator decoding.
Does anyone have a 'CW' tag or a photo of one or any reference to which tanks (indicated by two-letter code) were used on this CW unit?
I do not have a "CW" rad tag as it is one of the more difficult radiators/tags to find.
I have posted a photo of similar radiators with their respective tags to show a common tank usage.
The driver side tank is universal with the "IA" or blank embossed letter code.
It appears that the passenger side tank is standardize with the "AA" tank.
It would stand to reason, as there was less need to use a different letter code for a tank that is dimensionally the same.
The only mitigating factor to change between the radiators was the size and type of transmission cooler.
That is the number at the bottom of the tag.
You will see that the number is different on each tag.
Therefore I believe you can be reasonably confident that the tanks on the "CW" rad tag are "IA" and "AA".
Hope this helps.
Thanks for the info and pic. Interesting - I've seen one reference that a CU was a mid-year engineering change in 1972 but I need to look into that further. Do you have the radiators that are pictured? May be interested in a CU if I verify its use.
I found a reference to the AB tank with no trans cooler inlet fitting (pic below).
I just reached out to the guy who bought a very crusty '72 V Code w/ no A/C or HD cooling from me in 2011. My pics showed it may very well have still had the original radiator in it and he is looking through his 3 core pile for me. Fingers crossed....
