Pentagon parking lot in 1972

It is interesting to see how modern classic car shows represent what people used to drive back in the day... You would think it was nothing but Chevelles, Mustangs and Camaros.

Lots of Volkswagons, and wow they parked so close to each other, lots of door dings in that parking lot.

Very interesting. You kind of wonder what was the original motivation for the making of the video. It certainly wasn't to wow car collectors a half-century later. Perhaps to simply highlight the dominance of the automobile in everyday life?

The logo in the upper right says British Pathe. That company has an interesting history.

You can easily distinguish one from another, unlike these ugly grey pyles built today, where it's difficult to tell a Hyundai suv from a Kia! Thanks for posting that Video.

Most of those cars were pretty ugly, and they weren't gray but they were brown.

No kidding. So many VWs (& Mavericks!).

And that close parking. When it hit a stretch of big cars, all 7" from each other, I thought HTH didn't they get in & out ?!?! (Although, I suspect people were thinner back then!!)

Cool. I loved those days. No trouble identifying anything in that vid. Heck back in the day I could ID a car by its sound 90% of the time. Did anyone catch the tri-five 4 door sedan? Try to ID a car today just by its roof line. Maybe the new Challenger or Camaro, possibly the vette but thats it. Everything today is junk in the style dept. Everythings got "cat" eye front and rear ends, hate cats...oh and and what color would you like sir...gray, silver, dark gray, light gray, vivid gray, black, off black, dark black and white?...Where the Polymist! Zero style unless you spend 6 digits that is.
