Part unknown
Hey guys I have a 69 olds f85 I'm trying to figure out what the part is that I need I know it's missing but I need to try to figure out what it's called it's in the center between both the grills and the hood I've tried looking it up but I'm unable to find out what it is it's usually where the emblem goes I do not have it in my parts whenever I bought my car it's someone please tell me what it's called so I might be able to find it or if someone has one I'd like to buy one
This is not my car but this is the location I'm trying to figure out on the car what this part is called

Official parts book recognition is that it's called an "extension" for the hood "panel" that it bolts to. For all intents and purposes, the tooth is considered part of the hood on 69 and 70 F-85 models just as much as the chrome trim that bolts to the hood is. The 70 tooth is a bit longer (and just as deadly to your scalp), but in 1970, they had two parts numbers, one for F-85 without 442, and one for 442. I don't know anything about the tooth for 1970, so it may be it comes pre-drilled for emblems. 69 only listed one.
The 71-72 had no "tooth" and the stone shield was the plastic piece between and under the grilles which extended up from the . You'd have to loosen/remove the bumper and grille assemblies to get the piece out from the car. PITA.
The part number for the 69 tooth was 403961. And oh, there's a gasket that goes between it and the hood. P/N 404518 which fits 70 models as well. It's held on with short little 5/16"-18 screw bolts from the top that uses extended U-nuts on the tooth. The P/N was 390647 for the U-nuts. Need 3. Latest superseded P/N is 12338146. Auveco had them too under p/n AP8814 in an "Auveco Pak" of 3. They're fairly easy to find by size. As far as the bolts, you may can use Auveco p/n 10362. It's a bolt that's 13/16" length, with the hex head with washer built in. Looks like a radiator top plate hold down bolt. I can't recall the exact length of the original bolts. Don't forget the small trim bolts that go on the hockey-stick trim from behind on the sides.
Here's a sorta neat fact about those 69 "tooth" pieces that bolt on to the front of the hood. All the over the counter GM replacement parts I've ever seen had pre-drilled holes in the center sections for either the S/rocket emblem or the center "4" on the 442. The 69 H/O was the only "tooth" in 69 that I am aware of that did not have any pre-drilled holes, and the parts books did not specify any special part number for it. So if you suspect that 100% original 69 H/O you're looking at isn't 100%, this is one of the areas to look at. You can see the dimples on the back of the bosses where you could drill any and all holes you needed for Cutlass or 442 applications are already there.
Over the years and headbangs, those teeth get broken at the mounting points, some to the fact they're just missing.
Doing a cursory check on the interwebs.
OPGI sells the version without holes based on their website pics (unverified).
The parts place sells the version that appears to have the center holes pre-drilled (unverified).
Fusick's and Inline tube sells the gaskets. And as far as the nuts and bolts, they're just about everywhere.
There may be more, but armed with the above information and paint matching to your hood, you should be able to repair your hood to like new again.

Am I the only one who believes that, from 68-70, Oldsmobiles were designed to attack anyone who went under their hoods?
68 A- the hood didn't open far enough to keep your head out of the latch.🤬
69-70 A- the hood hinges were redesigned to open higher. But they put the fang on!🤬🤬
68-69 big cars are just as bad.
