Painted and cleaned lights

Just got the rear lights back on after being painted and cleand. Thought I would share as I know a lot of us may have faded trim. They look 100 times better but they are not perfect, I will use fine line tape to tape off the exposed part and redo the front headlight bezels next and post pics when done

Those look really good. I did mine a charcoal gray because that's what I had in the cabinet. I will redo them silver next week, they look much better and more correct. I have already had some peeps tell me they are the wrong color....

Awesome job the car looks really good.

Thank you Joe, I was ready to do mine black to match the car because I could not find a color I liked. I am sure someone would have pointed it out too but then I found a random can of "Aluminum" paint. I think it is close but since I have no good sample it has to do

Have you done your headlight bezels?

I did the same thing on my Cutlass, and then I decided to redo all the emblems as well. Building all those models as a kid really payed off here!

Acetone and a rag work really well to remove the overspray. I also did the rear trim in black.

I have found the closest color to original is from Krylon #1403 dull aluminum. It is hard to find but I found it a Ace hardware.

Did my '71 tail lights a couple of years ago, used Krylon Dull Aluminum, was real pleased with the results, also have used it on that cars grilles and the grilles and headlight surround on my '69. When doing the '71, I made a pattern to mask off the lens so it would not get paint on it...that's when I found out that the upper and lower lenses were different sizes!

Just recently painted my headlight surrounds and restored my original grill. I bought 5 cans that were in stock of the Krylon Dull Aluminum 1403 from my local True Value store, as this paint is no longer made by Krylon and is hard to find.
