How hot did it get?Is the upper rad hose getting hot? Is the lower rad hose cooler then the upper hose? Is your gage reading correct? Is there steam come off the engine or rad?Can you see coolant circulating in the rad when engine is hot?Have you put a pressure gage on rad?Do you have lots of heat comming out of heater?Do you have A/C is condensor clean?

I read your previous post, you stated that it heated up at speeds. Is the air deflector on the bottom of the radiator supportt still in place?I had the same problem on a late 80's trans-am I picked upseveral years ago cheap because it kept overheating at speed, the owner was told it was a headgasket, so he sold it dirt cheap, I replaced the lower air deflector that was missing, and it never got hot again. Just a idea.

once it got to 240 i let up and it would stay at 230. top hose is warm bottom hose is cooler, i tested my gauge in hot water so i know thats not it, the rad is new with cap b4 i drove it i let it warm up and took top off rad and coolant comes gushing out, heat works fine there is no a/c, no air dam electric fan

At 230 degrees the top rad hose should be hot,too hot to hold your hand on.I would double check the thermostat, take it out and boil it.when you have it out remove water pump belt run eng [cold ] and check for bubbles in thermostat hole.If there is bubbles it is proberly the head gasket.better get a second opinion on checking for bubbles I beleive that is how it is done but not 100%sure!Goodluck I would have taken a slege hammer to it by now lol.
