Opinions wanted- BB425 or SB330

Since shelving the VC for another time we are moving full force with the flat top wagon affair. It currently runs a chebby 305 but I need to have an Olds under the hood.
The car will be perfeck but will see lots of miles so that becomes a factor. I have both engines handy so I must decide which way to go.

Size really does matter, four something under the hood sounds so much better than three bla bla.

Not wanting to offend anyone here, but since the car already has a Chevy small block in it, what I'd stick with. Gonna be a way cheaper way to go, with parts availibilty everywhere. Guess it's my pocket book talking, but what I'd do.

Depends what you want to do.
They'll both cost about the same to rebuild.
For a nice, good MPG cruiser, use the 330.
For a street bruiser and 6 - 8 MPG, use the 455.
Either way, a mid 3 series gear and a 2004r trans would wake things up!

In reference to what Rickman48 said - I would go with the 425 but have it built with low compression pistons and a slight cam to enable use of regular gas and still retain most of the torque and use the 200R4 trans. That should get you in the 18-20 mpg range on interstate driving. I get 20 on my '66 98 but I also have EFI.

425.

My 455 gets 14mpg combined city/hwy. Plenty of power w/ a stage 2 Quadrajet and Performer intake.

Thanks for the input everyone. I was always leaning toward the 425 anyway however today one of my customers made me an offer too good to refuse. He is going to sell me a barely broken in 350 crate engine complete for $1200 - 1500 bucks.
OK - I am a purist when it comes to drivetrain options however this is less than half of what I was expecting to spend on this part of the car. That means I can buy a 700R4 trans and a better exhaust system.

I think I'm going to start a build thread on this car shortly.
