Those marks will buff but it looks like a little crease in it, hopefully not.

That's the only problem with driving a wagon .... no trunk to hide the body until you get the hole dug.

Dig the hole first. If someone drives up, you have more holes to dig.

Hard to tell in a pic but looks creased to me. If so, 2.5 hrs repair, full paint on door with detrim, and blend on qtr. About $550. Sorry to see that. All the marks will buff away and shouldn't be too noticeable if you decided to wait awhile.

Just a thought - You might think about buffing it & have a GOOD paintless dent removal guy check it out. You may find they can get it massaged out really well & save the work, expense & potential for visible paint inconsistency that comes with conventional paintwork. They might be thwarted by the brace though.

Being silver, all you have to do is scuff a panel & re clearcoating it will give a different appearance to the panel(s), even where no new color is applied. Light metallic colors (silver, beige, "citrus" greens) are all susceptable to this.

That's not law but I've been in body biz for 25+ years & that is my critical eye's observation. Not just our shop, I see lots of other cars, even as they pass by me @ intersections & I see it all the time. I imagine it is the same way for plastic surgeons @ country club swimming pools, damn did I ever end up in the wrong field!

I also agree with the above post. It is very difficult to get a perfect match. I've had more than one light metallic car go back into the booth 3x and end up with an entire side painted while the shop and I tried to determine where to "stop". So it is worth exploring a PDR option if there is no paint damage after buffing. +2 on the brace though. The only plus is that the damage is fairly low on a curved panel. Can I assume this is a base/clear? Might have to add to buff the front adjacent panel, too.

Paintless dent repair guys won't work on the old cars, metals too thick.

Oldcutlass you would be amazed I have seen pdr work on older cars. The guy who does the pdr for our shop has been doing it since the early 90's and man that guy can pop some dents. X3 with bccan silvers and essentially any light metallic colors will change but it also comes down to how the color is blended out. Our paint line has a clear base blender which helps in the match dept.

I had a local PDR guy work on several dings in the hood of my '67 Delmont. He sure made it look a LOT better than it did before.

Glad you have somewhere to go with the expense of the repair. It doesn't always work out this way.

I am thankful I saw the incident , found the suburban driver and that he was insured. Things have gone somewhat smoothly so far. We shall see what monday brings.

Thanks all for the support and kind words

Sorry to hear about the incident, but glad the culprit did not try to run away.
Damage is not too bad, but could be costly.
Looks like you at least got a comparable rent car...
Best of luck on the rest of the process!

The SAME thing happened to me on THURS. (AT LUNCH) I watched this "OLD" guy in a pickup try to park it and He banged into my bumper TWICE!
I ran out and got in his face and He says I SEE NO DAMAGE and walked away!
While I was on the phone with the police, He got in and drove off! He only moved the bumper bout an inch and I'm sure I can move it back, So in the end the turd has been charged with hit and run after I waited on the cops to file the report!
This is why I always park my pretty's were I can keep an eye on em!

Holy **** man that's so crappy.

I try my best to never bring the cutlass to parking lots, but sometimes it's just bad luck...

I had driven the car to work and about half way through the day it started to rain pretty good when it had not rained in about 4 months or so soooooooo you can guess what the roads were like. I BARELY touched the gas and it got loose. I got out of it and touched it again....my mistake. Fishtail....fishtail....POLE....around 270° and .....stop....while the battery slides 75 feet and slams into a salon window, cracking it.
I bopped the side of my head on the inside of the roof line.....BIG lump for that one.
All in all it was a bad night.

sorry to see how badly wrecked both your cars were! I hope neither one of you had bad injuries. My brother was killed in a car wreck when he was 21 years old. The cars can be replaced or repaired. People , not so much. Take care.

I did talk to the painter about going back to the factory color. He said there is NO way the insurance company would go for that. Oh well

Brian, Glad its back together and it looks bitchin but I'm I reading this correctly from the middle of October to the end of June. Why so long to get it fixed? Didn't your insurance company help inspire the shop to get it finished?Man thats a long time for a fender repair....Tedd

The repair was to be paid for by the other guys insurance - progressive
well the body work was butchered
the paint had fish eyes and sanding scratches
And my B&M racing transmission got lunched along the way:m ad:

i had the car hauled home last fall and looked at it all winter in displeasure
this spring i put the original transmission back in the car and took it back to the body shop and made it perfectly clear the car was NOT to be driven
and must be fixed to condition it was in before run into.

all is well that ends well ????

any wreck you can walk away from is a good thing

10 years ago a friend of mine slide on ice, hit a pole...just barely bumped his head...after the ambulance showed up, looked him over..let him go, he went home, sat on the recliner..and never moved again..passed away an hr after the wreck..and it was just a tiny fender bender....but the G-force was enough to move his brain around in his skull...and it killed him..55 years old..house full of kids...nicest guy you would ever meet..

I grew up in FL, and don't want to go back to central FL since it isn't what it was. Moved to the midwest, and the #1 thing that bothers me the most here is ice on roads. Hopefully we won't have another winter like the last one.
