You would get along with lots of folks around here , coal mining has been a big part of Nova Scotia's history and still going on today. country music is big here after all this is the home of Hank Snow and Anne Murray. My dad and I were born the same place as Hank Snow and he was my dad's favorite. I have travelled the backroads of this province with my job ( tree trimming power lines ) and there are gobs of people with cars and parts of cars parked all around their houses. I guess you could consider this as redneck country but they are also the friendliest folks you could meet.

Some of the "old" country music my mom used to listen to, I didn't like. That was the old cryin in the beer kind! I used to tell my sister to turn that sh** off! Talk about depressing! But the newer artists - and a lot of people don't consider them 'country' - I like.
George Strait, Toby Keith, Joe Diffy, Travis Tritt, Garth, Ricky Van to name a few! But I still enjoy my Rock and Roll too. The Eagles are a favorite! The Zepplin, Van Halen, Dire Straits, Stevie Ray, Lynyrd Skynard.... the older bands.

we pull up to the house... we have gagged the suspect with the giant hot dog, ( perhaps we should get two gag him top and bottom) and they probably have a mix of pork and beef, plus 30% fillers... so he ain't gettin to heaven LOL... or we can feed him his "organ" they ain't halal neither...

now we surround the house, light it up and wait for the rats to crawl out and then we let the fellas with the extra ammo to do what they do best.. while we finish off the blessed one with an ice pick.. as he gets to watch the whole ratz nest be taken down....

ok kinda complicated but if there is one there are a dozen can't be too careful and he did attack us with our wife and kids were present...

 

 

 

I think the term Redneck is one of derision as well as respect. Elitists look down their collective noses at them for their lack of formal education etc. They also secretly respect them for being able to fend for themselves and wish they could. Be it food or self defense of family the snoots can't do it. That's why they make fun of them.

Here my thoughts

 

I'm not religious, and I really don't care what people want or don't want to eat.

I will say that I have known some really nice people who were Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, Sikhs, Mormons, evangelical Christians, Catholics, mainline Protestants, and atheists, and I've met people from each group who were total jerks.

One thing I have observed that members of every group have in common is that whatever their own religion's book says, there is something in there they don't believe, don't agree with, believe is "from a long time ago and doesn't matter now," or whatever, so nobody really goes with his own religion 100% of the way 100% of the time, and that includes Muslims and Jerry Falwell. It's just human nature, whether that nature is due to evolution or to Original Sin.

As far as religions go, if I had to pick one, not letting me eat bacon would be a dealbreaker, but the same goes if I had to pick a doctor.

And as far as crazy terrorists go, I don't care if he's a Muslim trying to shoot up a Sunday School, or a neo-**** trying to shoot up a Jewish Community Center, or a Christian trying to shoot up a clinic, if I've got my .45, I'll drop him just the same, but if I have the time and the ability, I'll shoot to wound and not to kill ("shoot to wound" is a relative term when firing .45 ACP hollowpoints), because I think these SOBs need to be taken alive so that the FBI can have a long talk with them and learn something. I've got no moral or philosophical problem with killing, when appropriate, but dead men tell no tales.

The only reason that I guess I hashed this thread back up is what is happening
with the Syrian placement in the US. I personally think it is BS. The Canadian boys are going to pick up some too. I just think they need to pick up their arms and fight for their country. I don't give a damn what country they come from either. I guess it's a Redneck thing. I try not to hate, but dammit...

The Falwell organization's solution to that is to rewrite Christianity in its own image. That way their interpretation of it is always right! Actually had one tell me that people in Biblical times spoke KJV (Elizabethan) English- and this cat was old enough and supposedly intelligent enough to know better.


I'm 60 miles south- close enough to see what the Falwell Juggernaut does, and they opened an offshoot church here with none other than a second-generation Falwell leading it! I know several people who go there, and since they started going to that church, they are "different"- but not necessarily improved. That's as kind as I can be about it. They have become very intolerant and judgmental.


One thing I really enjoyed about this thread re-opening was reading Sandy's posts. I really miss our CutlassGal.
