I'm a ways away from Richmond here in Portsmouth, Va but I have a 78 Olds Delta I'm trying too fix up. I'm currently trying to figure out what Olds 350 engine i have in my car. Their is a company up here by the name of ABACUS Racing that i am looking at too get motor work done by & I already have a great and very cheap(compared to upholestry shops here) that does outstanding work. Just want a motor that can out perform these chevy's and crown victorias out here.

Marcus- go here http://www.oldsclub.com/chapters.htm and check with Capitol City Rockets and Eastern Virginia Olds Club. They probably have a pretty good database that may save you some time.
Only two of mine were sold new in VA- the 1976 Ninety Eight was sold new at Stohlman in Alexandria and the blue 64 Starfire came from Swanson in Danville.

Thanks! I am a member of Capitol City Rockets and the SX club. But there are not that many members and it seems evrybody i meet on this forum from Virginia are not in the same club. I will look into the Eastern Virginia Olds club.

I happen to be president of the Cap City Rockets this year.
Hey Joe how have you been? I bet there are 3 x more Virginia Oldsmobile owners on the forum than in a our Club. Dont get me wrong i am an Member myself and i love the club but people seem afraid to join? I am looking forward to coming to the spring dust off as it will be my first! I have my trailer ready to go. Also can you keep me posted as to any big shows in that area? I would love to attend. Hopefully i will try to attend a cruise in Fredericksburg as well.
I live in the east end of Henrico near the Richmond Int'l Airport my 1960 Olds. 88 resides here with me
it's not quite road worthy yet as my transmission needs to be rebuilt and I don't have the money for it at the moment

Participation has been a challenge for our club. I suspect part of it is the geographic diversity - we're scattered around the DC beltway. We did have a nice cruise to White Post Restorations last month. You can get club meeting and show info at the CCR website:
http://clubs.hemmings.com/clubsites/...kets/index.htm
The best source for cruise and show info in the DC metro area is the Capital Cruisin website:

Hopefully the 2012 Dust Off won't we waterlogged like the one this year!
I'm not sure if it's a '56 or not but this guy in Sandston where I bought my Oldsmobile from has a mid 50's 88. here is his website although that car isn't listed on it for some reason and i dont know how much he wants for it but it looks like it's in really nice shape not sure if you're looking for a cheaper project or something but if you want to contact him or something http://www.atozautosalesva.com/index.shtml he also has a 1949 Olds. 76 project car
I'm from Va, Williamsburg specifically. I have a 72 cutlass supreme convertible. As of right now it's all stock but everything works great, except the radio, which sadly only emits a low hissing sound. I go to school at W&M, so my project over winter break has been installing an aftermarket radio. Young guy has got to have some tunes for cruisin' and female chasing purposes!

Lots of good advice here in the engine section. Don't let someone "build" your Olds like they would a Chevy or Ford.
My '70 SX convertible was sold new at Kasun Oldsmobile in Springfield in May 1970. It lived under a carport in Springfield until August 2002, when it went to Stafford, then it found its way to me a year later via IL.

Hey there. I'm here in Baileys Crossroads. Got a 70 98 and a 71 Cutlass S. Maybe I'll come out to a meet or a cruise one day. Gotta get my cars up to par first :-) Just got a lil bit o rust going on. Actually I should have my 98 at the body shop this weekend. Just got the timing straight on there tonight/tomorrow lol

Drive em like ya stole em! That's my motto. I have a neighbor that has a Viper an Aston Martin and some supercharged Mercedes coupe and once he saw me laying down tracks he started doing the same. Once we started talking come to find out he's one of the higher ups in Fairfax County govt.
Oh yeah I used to have a 75 F100 with a 390 that was named that TRUTH. Now THAT was something else. I bought that one for $125 after the owner passed away but nobody knew some hillbilly out in Manassas had seriously ported the heads and threw a cam and some 3.73s on her. The hillbilly got into debt the the owner that passed away and gave him the truck.
I still wish I had her but my sister got it towed from her house one day...must a been that time of month lol.
Here's a video of my 98 from last summer. Not quite ready for prime time as you can see but I should have her in the body shop soon. http://dclimo.dyndns.org:8069/shelli...98_running.mp4

Ha. If y'all consider Manassas folks hillbillies, I can only imagine what you say about us down here in Southside.
My Aunt Evelyn lived in Baltimore for over 30 years, and natives still considered her a hillbilly because she wasn't born there.
