Oldsmobiles In Miniture
Oldsmobiles In Miniture
I think it would be cool to have a thread dedicated to Olds toys, plastic, die cast, whatever. I've got about 400 cars, I'll start with the newest release from Revell, 1/25 scale '72 W-30 conv, '72 Hurst/Olds conv and '72 Cutlass Supreme conv. The truck is a replica I built of the 1st truck I drove. I'll get better pics later. DSC01209.jpg Models005.jpg

That is a great looking rig you have there! Those Revell cars look very nice.
I can help you keep this thread alive,I've been a very serious diecast collector for about the last 15 years. My diecast interest has weakened since the purchase of my 1:1 car about a year ago.
I had to stop counting the cars in my collection when I hit around 4000,if I dont know how many I have, neither does my Wife...good thing.
Here's a few pics I took some time ago,I'll keep adding pics as time goes on.
Johnny Lightning Oldsmobile white lightnings.

Johnny Lightning Oldsmobile 442 black with flames series and white lightning counterpart.

I think these are 1/25th Ertl

66 Olznut & w-30dreamin: The cars look great. I've been searching and I haven't seen a model of a 67 Delta Custom. Have you? I'd like to own one.

It's a Revell kit that just came out last month. Stick or auto option with correct pedal n consoles and comes with alot of options. Hint, I use spray cans and Tamiya clear coat looks better than the Testors stuff, more gloss.
Here's some pics I took today, they came out weird due to light and mirror back in the cases but you can see what I got. That looks like the place where i got my 65 hardtop! I went in the guys house to get the paperwork, and there were Oldsmobiles from floor to ceiling, and another wall of all other cars-giant collection. You have a real nice collection-thanks for posting the pics! ---bil
Here's a '67 I just finished painting and clearing with the '66 above, I cleared both at the same time. I would like to have somewhat of a display set up at the Nats. DSC00193.jpg
Wow - very nice collection!
I have one Olds 442 model kit right now, but is still in the sealed box... It will prolly stay that way.
I also have two black Vista cruiser matchbox cars, that's about about it...
I used to have a 70's H/O long ago, but a previous GF destroyed it...

Here's a couple obscure ones (both in 1/64 scale)...
First is a 1965 fullsize Olds (Starfire or J1), its plastic, and other than the lack of bottom chrome, looks as though it was made using the same mold as the diecast Husky '65 Stafire. I bought it because its a dead ringer for my '65 Jetstar I. There are no markings on the bottom other than it was made in Hong Kong.
Second is a 1963 Starfire, also plastic. Interestingly, on the bottom it purports to be a Cadillac, yet its clearly a '63 Olds.
Both have a "police" theme (on the side of the '65 not pictured, there is a sheriff's star). Regrettably, I cannot determine the manufacturer for either, so trying to find more like them is going to be hit or miss. I've never seen any others like these.

Here's some pics of the blue '66 I posted that I finished painting some time back, this is what I hope that my '66 will look like. DSC00199.jpg DSC00200.jpg DSC00201.jpg DSC00202.jpg The '67 in that other pic, well, when I went to clear coat it, the clear reacted with the gold and it caused the paint to run. So I sanded it all down and waiting for the weather to warm up and re-shoot it, I found what looks like a Saffron color, gonna try that out........

I'm not sure, Olzsnut, but I think perhaps you win!
What a fabulous collection. Are the big rigs model kits, also? Where did you get them. You obviously have a great deal of patience; over the years I bought several Olds kits to build after I retired. So?
I retired, and they are still in the boxes in the closet.
May be time to begin at least one of them!

The big rigs are kits as well, same scale, except for the small trucks, they're die-cast. Since I spent 12 years over the road, I kinda have a liking of big rigs as well, the blue KW with the car carrier is a replica of my first truck. Any good hobby shop carries them, they are all old kits that have been re-issued in the last year or so.
A '67 W-30 I just finished in Saffron. This is the gold one previously shown that the paint job went to crap after I applied the clear coat. DSC00204.jpg

The '66 was shot on my patio, lol!!
The paint was actually a Ford color put out by Testors called "Phonecian Yellow" which to me, having seen a Saffron '67 up close, looks identical to it.
I'm working on another '66 being made to look like my first car, mis matched door panels, Turbo 400, missing side trim and all, lol! I have 3 '66, one when my first car was new, one of when I got it for $600 in 1988 and one what I want it to look like when I'm done.

You guys have some really nice collections! I'm thinking of offering this up on ebay, but if someone here were interested I'd certainly want to give them first chance at it. John

Today I finished a replica of my first car that I paid $600 for in 1988, right down to the license plate, Turbo 400, wheels, mis-matched door panels and under hood details. DSC00301.jpg DSC00305.jpg DSC00299.jpg DSC00300.jpg And here is my first car when I got it. 442.jpg

They made a '61 and a '62 4 dr 88 and a '65 Dynamic 88 2dr, all those are pretty hard to find and pricey. Quite a few from the 50's. There's also some available in the aftermarket resin.
