Oldsmobiles at Daytona
Here are some pics of the Oldsmobiles at the Turkey Rod Run at Daytona International Speedway today.
It was cloudy and overcast today, so the pics aren't the best.
Thank the Lord it didn't rain.

Thanks so much for the pics.
After going to the TRR for about 25 years, we did not go this year. The local authorities closed off Belair Plaza access, where so many car guys gathered starting the weekend before Thanksgiving. When we moved the cars to the Daytona One back parking lot, across from the track, this too was barricaded last year. What the towns of Ormond and Daytona Beaches do not get is the offsite gatherings were perhaps the most significant reasons that so many of us in the 50--80 age range traveled to, and spent a lot of money in, those tourist dependent towns. (They called our offsite cruise-ins, "non-permitted events") Accordingly, the Thanksgiving week TRR event in Daytona/Ormond is just a whisper of what it was for all those years.
On a side note, someone just informed me recently that the Shades of the Past event in Tennessee is no more. Can anyone verify this?
Edit: found the answer here: Shades of the Past 2022 Hot Rod Roundup (cabinsofthesmokymountains.com)

Spectator admission was $20.
Multiply that times a couple of thousand cars and you get an obscene amount of money for a local street rod club to be making.
And still it's not enough. they have to get the local authorities to close down ' non permitted events" .

I agree, right now it costs $70 to enter a car. A lot of guys in my local AACA chapter won't go anymore because of the price.

Charlie, Thanks for the pics, you did the best you could. I have a couple questions/comments below.
Interesting use of "under the bumper scoops".
The clouds make this car a little dark. I am wondering if this could be the OEM "Cutlass Bronze metallic" used in 1957 ?
The color on the roof looks "close" to 1957 "Cutlass Bronze metallic" where the sun is reflecting above the windshield on the passenger side. Was it the same color as the pic above this one ?

Ralph,
Owing to the fact that these are both street rods, I wouldn't bank on either of them being factory colors.
They were probably selected out of a chip book.
Maybe a Toyota color or something.

Friday and Saturday night this event was seen on the OPLive show on Reelz, sort of a live Cops spin-off. Scenes of full lots of cars were seen. Stupid conduct also observed as well as drunken onlookers, can't seem to get away from that now or ever. One guy in a project creep tubbed blower orange camaro convertable getting a ticket from a Florida state trooper, seen on camera bragging to the local cop talking to him something about 166mph. Also about being on Medicare . Did not see a single Oldsmobile on the TV show.

Nobody was around the '68. So I couldn't inquire as to whether is was a real W-30 or not.
