Oldsmobile Flex Plate to Chevy Torque Converter?
Oldsmobile Flex Plate to Chevy Torque Converter?
Are the holes in a flexplate supposed to be bigger than those in a torque converter? After getting my 455 in the car, I realized that the flexplate holes are meant for like a 7/16 bolt, and the torque converters are for a 3/8. I was told that the size difference is normal and just to run the 3/8 bolts, but I feel like it's wrong?

It's normal. Keep in mind that torque converter concentricity is governed by the converter pilot fitting into the recess in the end of the crank. The flexplate holes are purposely oversize so as not to ever force the converter out of concentricity even with worst-case tolerance stackups on the converter boss mounting holes. Welcome to mass production.
