Oldsmobile dealership numbers 1960’s

Need help, fellow Olds enthusiast is looking for info on his 1967 442 allegedly a W30 car. I am posting the POP tag with dealership info on it. Trying to determine where it was purchased etc. He was told Douglas Wyoming at Ideal Chevrolet Oldsmobile in 1967, but my brother has lived there over 40 years and has done research, no Oldsmobile or Chevrolet dealership by that name was in Douglas one called Platte Motors resided there in 1967. Douglas is a one horse town of 3500 people so there would only be one dealership for Olds..It wasn’t Ideal Motors..

Allegedly this car was drag raced in the tristate Wyoming Colorado Montana area back the,..It was red with painted white top, owner according to POP T.E. Dean. Any help on this he would greatly appreciate.

WOG on the POP, indicates the W30 spec turbo 400. You might get a little help from the thread for dealership codes.(TK-65) At one time he had a link on the thread for the complete list of dearler codes up until that time. https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...-online-68987/

Thanks,
I told hom to join here and follow this thread, 27 in your link shows Denver area as the location, but that could be as far as Cheyenne Wyoming I would think..

The 27-226 number is the dealer code... 27 is pacific region (denver)... so it could be any one of the states you listed (as well as SD); it does not appear to be in the spreadsheet database.

Anyone notice in-service date 10/28/67?

That tells me it was a dealer stock leftover or a possible dealer trade, since 68s were in showrooms by then. Unless someone had enough pull to get such a car ordered at the end of the year just before model year changeover. That would have been, what, end of August 67?

If it was a car that hadn't sold, original owner might have gotten a serious deal on this car.

27 is in the spreadsheet, not 226, but yes it shows Denver and Wyoming etc. The owner of the car says the info he was given was the car was bought at Ideal Chevrolet Oldsmobile in Douglas Wyoming.. as I posted there wasn’t that we can tell an Ideal Motors in Douglas, but possibly in another Wyoming town.

car was built late March like many of the '67 W30s
the "in-service" date 6-month later could be explained by many GUESSES: dealer demo, sponsored race car sold at end of season ........

FYI - there were 3,395 Oldsmobile franchises as of 1/1/68

Power brakes on a W30 in '67? Not correct.

power brakes (drum or disc) were not excluded from the '67 W30 OPTION list - '68 was the first use of the 328 duration cam & power brake restrictions

Hurst68olds, thanks for the info. I thought the 308° started earlier. Now I know otherwise.

Part number 397328 with 308/308 duration was used in 1966 and 1967 W-30s.
Part number 402194 with 328/328 duration was used in 1968 after 1-1-68, 1969. and on standard trans W-30s in 1970.

Supercars Unlimited "442 by the numbers" & "The Good OLDS Days" lists:
397328 = 308/308 duration * '66 W30 & '67 W30
402194 = 308/308 duration * early '68 W30 & '68 H/O w/o A/C
402569 = 328/328 duration * (after 1/1/68) '68 W30, '69 W30 & '70 W30 w/4-speed

I must have been sleeping when I typed that. I meant the 328° cam. I should have consulated my own copy of Supercars Unlimited "442 by the numbers".

Do you mean the degree symbol? Alt + 0176.
