Oldsmobile casting numbers?????
Not too sure what i have under the hood and i need help! Not sure if im in the correct place either so any help will be appreciated!
I Just bought a 1983 Pontiac Grand Prix and it supposedly has a "307" under the hood. now, its pretty rusty but the only numbers i can find on the passenger side are "2A" "554" and maybe a 716? cant really make out the last number. Could be 716 or 715. HELP PLEASE!
i want to give it a tune up but i want to make sure i know what i have before i proeed

Read this thread below, and tell us the block number. You might have parts from 2 or 3 different olds motors. For sure, you have either a 260 or 307 and maybe a 350 from the 77-80 era. Clean up those areas with a wire brush...and let us know.

I suspect the tune up parts are all the same. Same plugs and wires, same cap and rotor etc.

Welcome to the site... If the engine is an Olds design, check for the casting number next to the oil fill tube... Provided it is an Olds engine the thread sited above will definitely help you determine what you have...
