I would love to see all the mods done to that Land Speed Record motor. I remember the big deal on these motors making 180 hp, matching Olds 5L HO! Actually beating the 85 to 87 swirl port 7A head version by 10 hp. Of course, I also remember there was head gasket issues, that was in the early 90's. So many motors had issues in that department, Ford's 3.8 V6 were terrible for years, again a cast iron block with aluminum heads. Why they didn't go with an aluminum block is beyond me, probably bean counters. You know the real power in GM. A neat idea with the usual not so good execution. The training video links are neat touch.

 

The Q4 W-41 motors were rated at 190 HP. The Aerotech motors used nothing from a production Q4. They were dedicated, custom built race motors. From the REO Museum:
