Olds is gone...

So I sold my Olds yesterday. I know it will be taken good care of by the new owner who also was a very nice guy. It was his first US car and the Olds was exactly what he was looking for.

I wish to thank all nice people here who helped me with my questions.

Ps does anyone know how to end my membership?)

If you stop visiting, stop reading threads you've created or posted in, and don't make any more new posts either in existing threads or new threads, eventually the threads you're subscribed to will stop getting new posts and you'll stop receiving emails from the site. Your membership will more or less "die out" on its own.

If you really want to abandon the site, just delete the bookmark in your browser, ignore emails you get from the site, and time will do the rest.

It was good to have you here as a member and get to talk with you about cars and offer some advice.

Good luck with your next car!

Hate to see you go; I enjoyed chatting with you in the past. You may drop in any time, as owning a physical car is not a requirement. Hopefully the new owner of your car will join us and you may even want to chat with him some time.
Us mods do not have an easy way to wipe an account clean, so your old posts will stay.
You can update your signature and profile to say that you sold the car and are no longer a member. You can also turn off the email ability in your user profile if you want.
Either way, you may go as you choose. Just remember you are still welcome here any time.
Best of luck wto you wherever you roam!

An old American car - I approve!
Those things are huge - hope your street lanes are wide enought over there.
That is REAL luxury!

Very nice! A real head turner for sure in Sweden!
I remember Johnny cash well and still listen to his old tunes. Perfect tape to listen to in that car; nice to know the tape deck still works. If you ever need a belt for it, just holler at me, I have many spares.
Nice view over the hood!

The internal mechanics for the tape drive is belt driven I would guess.

He may not understand the term "belt" in this context as it has many meanings, including what you use to hold your pants up.

The orange thing in the attached photo is one of these "belts". The term refers to a flat loop of rubber, like a rubber band, that transfers rotary motion from the motor to whatever needs turning. They are commonly used on record turntables also.

You´re right one word with several meanings can be confusing sometimes but I love to learn more of the english language. Sometimes I use these US based forums as dictionarys

Techical terms are the worst though but I´m a fast learner.

In my experience, THIS forum would be the WORST place to learn the English language!

If you need an English dictionary, you might try this one:

http://www.thefreedictionary.com/

I use it frequently.

Haha - I musta confused you with that one...
The above picture explains it though - the "rubber band". The small version of your fan belt!
I have repaired several 8-track decks the past month and the belts are always stretched and deteriorated. Also the grease on the head mechanism hardens.
Enjoy that big car. I will have to look you up the next time I am in Sweden...

In Sweden the price on the sign is about the same or just a little more as over here, when converted to US dollars. However, you only get a quart for that, not a gallon.........

Yes but that don´t stop us US car maniacs over here. Since we only use our cars during the summer and mostly on nice and sunny days it doesnt really matter how expensive the gas is.
EverytimeI drive my Lincoln I do it with a big smile and it´s easy to forget what the gas cost
