olds 307
this has been bugging me for a while ,when i go to order parts for my 1980 cutlass supreme with a 307 olds motor in it ,why does rock auto ,advance auto ,and several others only give me the 5.0l 305 option ?im getting ready to swap in my 455 and plan on using new 307 mounts for the swap and it lists them as anchor 2292. why cant i use the 2328 mounts? is it because they won't line up on the frame pads properly? i know this motor mount thing has been brought up a ton on here but i want to avoid buying the wrong ones . in fact i have new 2328 mounts now.

how the hell did i not know that ! i just went out and cleaned all the dirt and grime off what appears to be the original emissions tag and low and behold 4.3 litre. this was a one owner car i bought from the guys grand daughter and she told be the motor was recently rebuilt.i guess more like recently replaced.it is a beautifully running engine.and great news because i was torn about ripping apart an original car.and the mounts are anchor 2328 for the 260 so im good there .thanks Randy im glad i asked

Actually the 307 came out in the 81 model year. I had a Delta 88 manufactured in the 10 month of 80, factory 307. The mounts were same on all 73 and up cars RWD cars. Yeah, the 307 wouldn't be factory in 80. Old guy was probably tired of the awesome acceleration of the mighty 260.

260 gas, 260 diesel, 305, 231. 79 and 80 had the olds 350 in the W30-H/O cars. I don't think I have ever seen a 267 in a Cutlass.

We had the 267 till 82 then either the 231 V6 or a 305 chebby. I did see a 4 door Malibu with the 229 chebby V6. Ironically we also had the Olds 307 in some of the Caprice's like you guys.

i got this motor out over the weekend and dont see any id number on the block pad .is there another location for id number on this block?was curious to see what year it actually is ,it does has a factory aluminum intake .its no wonder these motors lack power. between the awful log manifolds, catalytic convertor and tiny exhaust pipe .id be willing to bet just a set of headers and a little tuning would wake these up significantly better than factory

Kind of off subject, but why did Oldsmobile hold off until '82 for the 307? Chevy was using them back in '69 (and probably much earlier). By '82 I'm pretty sure that Chevy had switched over to the 305. Just seems a bit odd.

Olds lost their 350 in 80 due to Cafe. So for 81 they knew the 260 wouldn't cut it in the big cars. This is know doubt why the 307 was born at that time. Why it wasn't an option in the Cutlass for a year, maybe a stock pile of 260's was the reason and it disappearing in 82.
