An Old Song About Oldsmobile
#12
One of Kathy Mattea's band members was in Music City Rockets in Nashville and they'd often stop by a MCR gathering. Kathy loves all her fans but especially her Oldsmobile fans. She played a small venue here a couple years ago and I had a very enjoyable conversation with her after the show.

That was printed on every record that was put in a jukebox. I had a friend that ran a series of jukeboxes in cafes and every record he had to replace had that printed on it.

today those promo records have a lot more value. they were made at the start of the pressing for radio stations mostly and maybe jukebox companies not sure about that though

So many of us have family history and stories about our old Oldsmobiles, so this song should ring true. My parents were driving Oldsmobiles before any of us kids were even born. Then many, many family vacations in our '66 and then '71 Vista Cruisers. Eventually I drove away from my wedding in my own '71 Cutlass supreme in 1982.
I discovered and listened to Jamie Lin Wilson long before she wrote this song, so I was thrilled when she wrote and released it around 2016. In this video she explains the story and meaning behind the song. Enjoy!
