Yes, good job with the car.
That’s what I was pointing out in that “other” thread. Properly functioning old technology systems can do the job, as evidenced by the above and my own vehicle that runs at thermostat temperature in 110+ summer temps with the AC on.

x2 agreed. Case in point: I just gave my 79 H/O a boost of a can & 1/2 of R-134 in the conventional A/C system. This is the first time I've boosted it since I've owned it, I've been lucky with is factory system so far. All is working and it is not taxing the motor & making it run hotter, not even at an extended idle. And I cruise 70 mph without out breaking a sweat.

My 79 Blue Calais has the aftermarket Original Air setup installed a few years ago before moving to SC. This car also has an alum radiator and one of those Be Kool alum water pumps. I did all this as years ago I was buckshotting my highway hot-running issue which turned out to be a bad Clutch Fan. No heating up issues at all. It runs 70 mph fine but as it is 105 hp it does.not.like.it.

So here we have one car with all Factory A/C and the other with some Mods with pretty much the same result. The only issue is a bit of a strain with the low HP blue car, but it is what it is. If I don't like it I can get a 350.

I had both cars out for an extended ride yesterday in 93 degree heat. Both cars are ready for the summer.

Absolutely prefer quality vintage technology. Felt bad (for a minute) regarding the recently shut down cooling thread starter. The OP may have meant well, but his approach was quite lacking. Perhaps one day he will realize CO is a wonderful, collaborative and informational place to hang out.

So are our classic Oldsmobiles, especially when our stock cooling systems are performing as designed - in these crazy hot summer temps.

Another example of classic tech - the rich full analog sound of this 1975 Pioneer RT 1050 - beats digital compression any day.
