Old Plates

I found these plates at an atique store - tucked away with a bunch of old license plates. Anyone know anything about them - if they are worth anything. Right now they are sitting on my wall of my man-cave.

i have a couple of each.a couple of em were found underneath the front license plate when i went to put my plates on the cars.it kinda served as border around the plates.makes the plates stand out.also i believe they were all on the bigger 88 and 98's.

Dealer showroom display plates. Those are nice condition and very desirable pieces. I think they came with all new cars.

New car owners in states that didn't use front plates often had them on their cars. Those of us in Vajenya didn't have that option, though I've pulled them off plenty of cars in NC junkyards.

The original GM part number on the upper plate is #408186
They came on 1970 Toronados, (maybe 69 and 71 as well). The bottom plate could have been modified as to the removal of the black paint. In the parts book, they are referred to as a "panel"
in the front bumper section of a GM Olds parts book.
