Oil Questions

I have 2 questions on my oil for my 69 Delta:

1) Type: I typically use 10w 30 in it from a major brand. Is that appropriate for the age of the motor (SBO never rebuilt w/ 70K miles)? Anything special to consider when buying my oil?

2) Frequency: I currently only put 1000-1500 miles a year on the car. How often should I change it? Typical use is on the weekends with short trips of several miles and occaisional longer drives.

Thanks

...and reuse that oil in your yard equipment, etc.

The problem with short drives is that the oil can not burn off any contaminants.
