Oil Pressure Sender Switch

Hey guys on my 1964 oldsmobile f85 deluxe the oil pressure switch is leaking oil. Should I just buy a cheap one or should I look for a NOS on ebay? If anyone knows where I could get a nice one that would be helpful. Thanks, kevin.

Why are these your only choices? Can't you go to an auto parts store and buy a new one that's not "cheap?" That's all I've ever done over the years, and I've never had a problem.

I'm not sure what you mean by "nice one." These are not gourmet items. They're not something that's going to dress up your car. Get over to NAPA or Carquest or whatever, spend $12 or whatever, and get one.

No need to go NOS. In fact, I'd be suspicious about the reliability of a part like this that's been sitting in box for 50 years.

I paid something like $2.50 for the last one I bought on eBay, and it was an older Standard Auto Products unit, new in the box.

x2. That is why there are so many auto parts stores and not just dealership parts counters out there in the world.

You know how sellers jack prices just because a part ( that May or may not work ) is NOS. Think PT Barnum and you too could be an NOS parts seller.

I bought a nos oil pump a mellings one on eBay for 20 free shipping it was pit out in 1977 :O it looks good no rust turns freely I hope it works lol

I got a cheap replacement at Pepboys which worked fine, and then just decided to get a pressure gauge and had the whole thing installed in about an hour.

HINT: My gauge came with a thin white curly tube, looks terrible. So after running it from the replacement fitting on the front of the block where the pressure sensor was, through the firewall to the gauge, I got some gas line hose and split it down the middle and shoved the curly line into it to drape back across the manifold to the firewall. Totally unnoticeable and fits in with everything else, all other hoses.

That is a slick idea to hide the silly looking teflon line in gas or vacuum hose. It will look better for sure. I like it.

... Or you can gut the ⅛" copper tubing and use that instead of the nylon.

I payed about 8 bucks for mine, ordered it from a local parts store. Mine was beginning to leak more and more, replacing it fixed it!
