I saw this in Hot Rod. While the workmanship is incredible, I still don't get the mini-hood under the hood.

It's kinda cool. The guy wanted to hide the rad etc. in the front, but he still needs access to the rad right? So he made up a mini-hood that opens up for rad access.

The way all those components are hidden in the engine bay makes it look like a life sized hot wheels car to me.

I studied this for a while and am still not sure what's going on...

Sounds like 3 hoods are/were used. 1 full size glass hood, 1 steel front for the 'mini-hood' & 1 steel front for the rad top cover.

As near as I can tell, the idea is that you can remove the full size hood & install the mini-hood to show off the engine bay while cruising, but maintaining the front profile of the car...(like RocketRichard said..). Both hoods in the same pics make it confusing...

I agree the hood thing was the only thing I didn't like. The Olds emblem under the hood was cool as hell.
