OCA Nationals
I know not everyone is a fan, but I wanted to see who is going to the nationals next week. Good Lord willin' & the Cutlass makes it, we'll be there. Maybe we can work out a get together at one of the local watering holes?

I will be there Thursday around noon-ish. I and Brett (Paladin31) are planing on supper Thursday evening. I have invited a couple of the members, but it's been three weeks from PM's and nothing!
Shoot me a PM if you want to break bread with us?

I will be there Tues-Sat, and at the races Wedn and Fri evenings. OCA has sponsors for the races, American Racing Headers and Joe Mondello Racing Engines, so there will be $ and CNC machined billet plaques for Pro, Super Pro, and Show Stock. Anything in the show can qualify to race.

I plan on being there Wednesday afternoon/evening with some parts in tow. Not sure what to bring but am loading this week so I will not be loading at the last minute. Hope to be there in time to make the races.

I was surprised by receiving my judging assignments! I already know which classes that I have and how many cars. Finally I can do little homework before the time comes.
OCA should take note of whoever in charge of judging in Cincy. This should be the formula for all nationals! They even went so far as getting the teams at each table to get associated with one another. (judges meeting)

We are going to the races on Wed. Will probably go to look at the cars another day. We are mostly going to spend our time at the Buick Performance Group Nats + races (BPG) 3 hours away. I don't want to hurt anybody's feelings, but honestly...watching Olds race is like watching paint dry, compared to watching the Buicks!

I will show up Friday morning and leave Saturday. My wife can't make it. I would like to come Thursday but not likely going to be able to. Been a real bad summer for us and the funds just are not there.

Oldsmobile Club of America
2014 National Meet Drag Races
Edgewater Sports Park
July 30 and August 1, 5:30--10:30 PM
The Oldsmobile Club of America Racing Committee, American Racing Headers (Nick Filippides, 631-608-1986), and Joe Mondello Racing Engines (931-459-2760) invite you to attend the 2014 OCA National Meet Drag Races at 5:30 to 10:30 PM on Wednesday July 30 and Friday August 1, 2014. Joe Mondello Racing Engines is sponsoring billet aluminum plaque awards for First and Runner-up in Pro, Super Pro, Show Stock, and for Top Rocket.
American Racing Headers has provided sponsorship money for this race. Payout amounts will depend upon the number of participants and classes. For example, if all the cars are placed in Pro and Super Pro, each winner will receive $350 and runners-up will receive $150 each. If there is sufficient participation, a third class, Show Stock, will be established and the payouts will be $200 for winners and $100 for runners-up.

All Oldsmobiles and Olds powered vehicles are welcome at the race, and are eligible for awards, with two exceptions: Olds power is required to qualify for Top Rocket, and separate classification for cash payout for show cars is contingent on there being enough street-tired show cars at the race. Even if there are not enough show stock cars on street tires for a separate cash award, they are still eligible for the show stock plaques, and for cash awards in the Pro class for that purpose. Chances for awards are doubled if the entrant races both Wednesday and Friday.
Races will be at Edgewater Sports Park which is located a few miles west of Cincinnati, Ohio at:
4819 East Miami River Road
Cleves, Ohio 45002; Phone 513-353-4666
Directions:
Take Exit #7, off I-74 & I-275, to the west of the I-74/I-275 junction (left side of the map).
Go north to Miamitown, turn right at the light, cross the bridge, and turn right at the first road (East Miami River Road). [Note: The track's altitude is 492 feet above sea level.]
Sorry, the site won't let me upload the images as they are too big--the flyer you get at the registration desk will include logos for ARH, JMRE and a photo of the CNC machined plaques, and a map to the track.

It was a pleasure to have met all of you and put a face to the screen name.
Maybe I will try to organize something for Homecoming! Either Friday or Saturday night?

Too many beautiful cars to count & met several people in person that I've only dealt with online. Thanks to all that made it a pleasure to be there.

I really enjoyed meeting all of you guys on Thursday. I hope everyone had a safe trip home. We made a vacation out of the trip, went to the following attractions in Ohio:
Football hall of fame
Airforce museum (Dayton)
Cincinnati Reds baseball game
Cincinnati Bengals training camp
I felt that Cincinnati/ Kentucky chapter did a fantastic job of hosting the event. I am looking forward to 2016 if the buzz is true that the Music city rockets will host the Nationals.
I hope Paul and Ed made it back without incident to Ottawa. Has anyone heard from him?
Take care until next time,
Ross

It was great meeting all of you and thank you to everyone who offered their help with the issues I am having with the Cutlass.
I want to especially thank Ross who spent quite a bit of time with us and offered me a ride to pick up some stuff needed to try and repair the car.
I don't think he is on here, but I also want to thank Tim who probably spent more time than he should have with us including Sunday morning.
In the end, I rented a car and drove home Monday (17.5 hours in one day is a LONG drive) to be back for work on Tuesday.
We drove the rental car back this weekend and rented a truck and trailer and towed the car home since we could not find the problem or now maybe problems.
For more details, please see my build thread. I didn't want to post too much technical stuff in here.
I look forward to meeting you all again in the future.
