OAI Inner Fender Clamp

So my Dear wife bought me a Dual Snorkel air cleaner, fender clamps, snorkel clamps for Christmas...Yeah! But the fender clamps look small to me (and oh so cheap). Does anyone have an original to compare these aftermarket ones to? I am guessing I need to clamp the flat portion that bolts to the inner fender and just spread it out wider?

Thanks for any help!

yep, that is pretty much what you do. If you got the OAI from the Parts Place the clamps claim to be exact replicas. Those you have look correct. I installed one on my 68 a couple years ago and was very pleased. My inner fenders had all the dimples in the right places and just need to be drilled out. Yes, the clamps are smaller so when spread they put a little tension on the hoses.

They should be 1" wide. If tight, as yours look to be, you can spread them until when relaxed they are 3.87" inside so they will hold the 4" hose but not crush it.

Thanks guys for the input. I think I will smooth out all the edges on it and then powder coat or shoot some paint on them to keep them from rusting...probably what a cast/dark gray or even clear coat? Same with the clamps for the hoses on both ends.
