OAI Hood pin scuff plate alignment

OK - the finished hood is on the car and I'm getting the last bits installed. What orientation do your scuff plates have under your hood pins? The AIM shows the keyway pointing right - but there's also a discussion about the original desire of the designers to have the pins lock 90 degrees off from where they are now... SO - what's reality?

How the AIM shows it

How I seem to remember seeing them

I'm dying here hahaha - every Cutty and 442 has this hood now, so I know there are hundreds who are just dying to run out to the garage and peek under the pins to see the scuff plates for me... It also might be eye-opening to see if there was any real standard when they were installed in the first place.

This is all I've been able to find on the interwebs - showing the orientation I thought I remembered... any more input is much appreciated
