OAI. Air cleaner bucket

Hello all, can anyone tell me if the air cleaner bucket on a 455 supreme is the same as the 442 OAI. Hood? I'm converting to the ram air hood and now looking for a bucket.
Thank you,
Mike

I found the answer here on the site. Thanks all. How do I delete this post?

There's no need to do so. It helps the archive and takes up little memory. The answer, for posterity, is, yes, it's the same.

If your talking about the air cleaner base, the OAI base had holes drilled in them.

The round part of the 4 bbl air cleaner will work weather it is a factory OAI or just a regular 4 bbl but the snorkle is wider at what you call the bucket on an OAI car than a regular 4bbl air cleaner. See Adams picture above.

I understand. Thank you! How does the vacuum work on the top part. I imagine when vacuum drops the door opens. Is that just for air going g into the secondarys on the carb or does it need all 4 barrels?

When the flapper door opens during low vacuum, it feeds outside air to the entire carburetor. The air does not discriminate between primary and secondary. It is equal opportunity air.

Thank you! Never seen one in action. So with the flapper closed it breaths like a normal air cleaner through the snorkal correct?

Yes, when the outside air flapper is closed, the air comes down the snorkel. That air is a mixture of under-hood air and heated air from around the exhaust manifold. The vacuum-operated flapper at the end of the snorkel controls air temperature by balancing the amount of air from each source.
