Nostaglia Car Show and Drags
Great show up in Fitchburg MA. Not many Olds but these caught my eye. Nice and clean Vista Cruiser, surfboard and all. Also this monstrosity that had an Olds engine in it. You might be able to make out the rocket 455 badge on the fender. Since I barely had to bend over to look I verified that it was an Olds engine in it.
I wish, of course I forgot my camera and had to rely on my buddies phone.
For the most part the cars were top notch. I only saw two other Olds, a 71 and a 66. The 66 was racing but only in the test and tune part. The drag part was 330' or a quarter of a quarter mile done right on the runway at the Fitchburg airport. Although I love drag racing many of these cars were nothing more than full blown race cars with a exhaust thrown on them to call it a street car. The races were won or lost on the line. Blow the tires away and you were done. Just too short to make up the distance.
The highlight was a 70 Buick Skylark vs a VW Beetle, early 70's era. My money was on the Buick but he lost by several car lengths. At that point I thought for sure the VW had a Toronado drive train in it but it was an original VW engine. Not stock by any means but solid for what it was.

LOL I saw that beetle beat the skylark by a fair margin, I thought he must have some kinda engine swap in it, but as I walked I too was surprised that it was a VW engine....
I didnt see any olds I was there w my little one but we only stayed for about 1.5 hours we did get to see a bunch of the cars racing including that beetle !!!
