NOS GM 1970 Indy 500 Pace Car Decals and NOS?? 1972, 1973, and 1974 Hurst Olds Decals
Decades ago, I purchased a large quantity of Oldsmobile stripe decals at an estate sale. The stripes were once owned by Jim Carson who was big into the Hurst Olds and 442 cars back in the early days. Some of the newspaper packaging is dated mid 1980's so the decals have been around a long time.
The 1970 Indy Pace Car decals are obviously GM NOS, however, I am not sure if the 1972, 1973, and 1974 Hurst Olds decals are GM NOS or aftermarket. The 1970 decals have GM part numbers while the back of some of the 1972 decals are marked "Scotchlite Reflective Sheeting" and/or "3M Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company." Most of the 1973 and 1974 decals have no markings on the back, however, a few are marked "3M ScotchCal Film" or "Decolar".
Does anyone have experience with the original '72, '73, and '74 Hurst Olds decals to shed some light on whether the described stripes are GM NOS or aftermarket?
1970 GM NOS Indy 500 Pace Car Decals
I can confirm that that is how my NOS set of 72 decals look. They came rolled up on a 16-18" tube inside a box. The round Festival decals and Indy wings were the same used on all the cars.

Ran into a gentleman at the 2024 H/O Nationals that had the originals still rolled up in a tube, took a few pics but never thought of looking or taking some pic's of the back of them...
I will mention this and you may or may not be aware.
On the originals for 1974, the 'Slash' in the Hurst/Olds is 'white' and not clear. And all of the lettering will have a white outline around it,,, was done that way for the lettering to stand out if put on a black car.
I've seen some repops where they don't do that.

are you selling these? Or just looking for information on them? I believe the originals where made by 3m but companies today still use the 3m not sure if the same on the backing
Thank you 1969Hurst and Indy Guy for the information. If I am interpreting the info correctly, the '72 and '74 decals appear to be NOS and not aftermarket, correct?
BBLima, I am trying to figure out what I have at this point. They may be for sale in the future.
I can confirm that the 72's are identical to mine that are still in the box with the Hurst order form from 1974. The rare digital tack was priced at $79.95 too!
