Anyone out there buy and install a VINTAGE NOS fuel pump ? I mean like 50-70's vintage rebuildable and or not rebuildable types.

I'm having a dispute with an acquaintance who believes they'll fail because they have been sitting around.

They are more likely to fail because of the crappy corrosive ethanol

Rubber like parts dry and split. I would not buy a 50 plus year old fuel pump and expect it to be dependable. Now if you want one for a core and it can be rebuilt thats ok.

I don't believe they'll fail, I KNOW they'll fail. The voice of experience speaketh...

Modern gasoline formulations play hell with those old gasket and diaphram materials. I wouldn't bother installing an NOS unit without first rebuilding it with ethanol-resistant materials- you'll only end up doing the job again in a short time.

Agree whole heartedly, I have about eight NOS ones that I am going to scrap just for the die cast.

My choice would be (C), all of the above. They do dry out and ethanol is the enemy.
