NOS 70 hood tongue troubles

has anyone seen this? i was contacted after i listed this on ebay that most of these had the center holes in the wrong location for the 442. i checked it with some old emblems i have and sure enough, it is wrong. hard to believe they goofed this up that bad. if you ever see one listed as NOS you may try to remember this so you know in advance before you buy it.

please explain, do you mean over the counter ones are drilled wrong or many of the ones that came off the cars were wrong or if they are wrong they are not NOS and are repos?

Eric, I looked at the pictures in your other thread and it looked like the holes were drilled in the bumps cast for drilling. If nobody beats me to it I'll try taking some pictures and measurements of the backside of my 1970 tooth. So you think the factory may have drilled some of these in the wrong location? John

Wow...I never heard this before! But...with a zillion used tongues around, this is probably not a part I would buy NOS anyways, unless it was really cheap.
