Non-American Rotors?

Well the time has come to re-do the suspension on my 84', and while gather info and prices on all the pieces I need, I was trying to stick with all USA made pieces and parts to put back in it, and got most of the parts figured out, however I was down to the rotors trying to select which ones are best, and I haven't found a set yet thats made in USA? This is extemely sad. The one set I was able to find is something I've found online, but they're drilled and slotted, and I don't want to put that on my car. Anyone know of any sources for stock OEM replacement USA Rotors and Drums? Or am I gonna have to trust stopping a 4000 lbs car on chinese metel?

I'm not sure if you can find any made in the U.S., you might want to call a local NAPA store and ask if there are any.

I've done two complete brake jobs in the last couple years, lines to cotter pins. It was difficult, but I was able to find American parts for almost everything. Unfortunately, it looked at that time like it was going to start getting more difficult. It took about ten rotors/drums to find a complete USA-made set. I had the best luck at Carquest. Both of these cars were older, so it's hard to say what that would mean for G-bodies. I'd guess there must be a lot of older parts floating around out there for G-bodies, there were so many made, and so few on the street now. My feeling is if you make them dig around, they will find some dusty made-in-USA parts at the bottom of the shelf. Good luck!

Are you drums and rotors shot? Most often you can get them cut and trued, and press on!

Thanks guys for the input! I've checked the local stores and came up empty. Most places now just carry the economy rotors cause they're "good enough" they say. lol. I did find the AC Delcos on rockauto. Doesn't say where they're made, but these may work since they are at least Delcos. I also just found a set on GbodyParts.com too, these were made in Canada, but no name brand, those may work too. Finally making some head way. Thanks again!

X2. If no visible damage and they are not close to the wear limit, then reuse them! Of all my vehicles, they all still wear their original rotors and drums.

I'll gladly buy Canadain parts. A lot of the parts on my Alero are from the Great North. (sadly a few Mexican parts too )

A lot of original parts were made in Canada, too. For both GM and Ford that I know of...

The ac delco front brake hub and rotor assemblies rockauto is selling , for a 72 cutlass that is, are made in china. They told me via telephone they are the raybestos rotors in a delco box. I purchased some but have not tried them out yet.

Think you'll have trouble finding cast iron parts, not made in China, but doesn't mean they're not any good. Has to do with emissions and safety regulations of foundries. Pretty tough here in the states, and virtually non existant in China. Knew I guy that sold Bridgeport machine tools. While assembled in the US, the cast iron bases were shipped over from China. If not in a hurry, keep an eye on Advance Auto parts online pricing. Was getting e-mails from them over the holidays for 20% off, $50 towards next purchase, ext. Got all new rotors and pads sitting in the basement for my daily car, and don't even need them yet. Will eventually though, and the way I bought them little at a time, was surely over half off. Also, you mention your 84' Cutlass being over 4000 lbs, I'm thinkin' more like 3500 lbs.
