Newbee with questions about my 442
I'm new here. been meaning to get on here for a while. I have a '69 442 covertable that I got when i was a kid. It's sat neglected in a garage for over 15 years now. Three of those years were outside where the top dry rotted and the sun took over the paint. It won't take much to get it in top shape... All the numbers match. It has 120k on the same bottom end that rolled off the factory floor. All power options and the 350HP/440TRQ engine. One thing I am curious about is something I have not seen on any other 442s is it has a decal on the engine telling HP, TRQ, Ratio, and Bore & Stroke. I have seen some '69s going for a lot of money. I am curious if mine is a garden variety covertable or not. From what I recall I am the second owner and there was only some 400 or so produced with all the options and what not on the car. My father purchased the car for me out of the Dupont Registry back in 1989. I believe it sold for 11k. Can you guys help me out with the vin? 344679M153757 Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the site. The VIN said that it is a 1969 442 convertible built in Lansing MI. There is no way to know how many others were built with the options you have on your car. Do you still have the factory paper work that came with the car, like the window sticker or POP? Check on the inside of the trunk and you should see a white sticker that has the RPOs or Regular Production Options and that will tell you what options the car left the factory with. For example, C60 would be A/C.

Welcome. Does your valve cover decal look like this:

If so, that decal was only used in the 1967 model year, so you either have a swapped engine, swapped valve covers, or someone stuck on a repro decal. The factory installed 400 in your car would have had a different bore and stroke (3.890 bore and 4.125 stroke) and would have been rated at 325 HP if it was an automatic or 350 with a manual trans. If your car has black inner fenders and the under bumper scoops it may be a W-32, which had the 350 HP engine with the automatic. Only 25 W-32 convertibles were built in 1969. Post some pictures and maybe we can provide you with better info.
