New posting window
Anyone else notice the posting window here has changed? I'm kind of curious what 'Source' is, what 'Spoiler' is and why there's a 'strike through' when it's just as easy to fix a typo.
Anyway, it's not a big deal, just it caught me by surprise. Note also the "link" feature is different when you go to use it. Still works but different format.

What would be a really nice thing if they could do it is allow images to be uploaded 'from your device' in the PM section of this site. Right now I need an URL to do that and I have no clue how that works with pictures on my computer. I know hosting sites have URLs for their images, but I don't have a membership to any hosting sites.

The software has been update to reference the social justice warriors' postings of today.
I will be your tour guide.
Spoiler is a hidden quote that you have to click on to see. You put the answer in there.
For instance. A lesbian, a vegan, and a crossfitter go into a bar. How do you know which is which?
It's for humor, or gating information.
Strikethrough is for when you want to say something without saying it. Example: Rosie O'Donnell is abulldyke woman in comfortable shoes.
Edit: I was wrong. Source shows the HTML code, not clear text. It will put [ QUOTE ] and such in your view.
It's just a sign of the times. Forums are more for arguing and humor now than exchange of information.

I figured out how to use Spoiler by playing around with it. Meh.
I understand what strikethrough is. I found it very convenient when editing company documents in Word, and formatting changes. here? Meh
Source? What's the point. Who needs to see HTML? meh
Quote we already had.
I don't think anyone here really uses the paragraph justification classes, nor do they use bullet or numbered features. That's kind of wasted here. Maybe a good thing on the for sale or parts wanted items?
Paragraph indent? I think that's more for technical writers than anyone using this site. again - Meh.
Personally I just don't know what was the problem with the old version of posting input.

Adam
The emojis
When you were typing your message, the reason the SPOILER didn't work is because you deleted the [ on one end of the spoiler. That's also a common thing when people 'quote' others. They delete part of the [QUOTE] that surrounds the text and results in a weird looking post.
Try editing your post and inserting that missing [ Betcha it works then.

So apparently the new window does NOT allow you to change font size??? That's going to be a problem when talking about 7A heads. Note to IB admins - the font size is MUCH more useful than the "spoiler" function.

Shocked! Shocked I tell ya I just used that font size feature yesterday for exactly that reason. Or GA heads etc. There are plenty of reasons to have multi size font. Mebbe a feedback thread on this would help, although I doubt it. Time to ask an admin.... ;rolleyes:

No, that's not true. It's an impressive-sounding number in the press that is meaningless. There is no gain or loss until you sell it. Frankly, if you tired to dump that much stock all at once, you'd probably depress the stock price and hurt your value anyway, so again, it's a bogus number. Kind of like claiming a quarter mile time on a car based on some desktop dyno runs.

Joe, I tried the BBC link. I can get numbers to appear the size I want, but when I try to get a small Capital A, it automatically reverts to a small case. Is that something that's in another code?

I'm using Firefox. I don't know if browser matters here.

Using chrome. Ok that worked. I don't know why it wouldn't work when I did a cut/paste from the web page (as convenience) This is a royal PITA though. I'm going to ask an admin why the sizes were removed and if they can be restored. Some of those new icons are really useless to 99.999% of the posters on this site.

Well, I asked an administrator about this and they tried to steer me to a solution I don't have in my CP. Am I surprised? I still don't like this new format but like everything that happens I'll get used to it I suppose. Or else there will be another change...

Adam, IMO there's a lot of things that don't work as well. eg: if you want a smiley you must now clik the smiley button and select for each emoji you want to enter. That's just one thing....
I haven't run into any problems with copy/paste though. That's nothing that should be affected by these changes. I guess it depends what you're copy/paste is linked to? If it's from an outside source it will probably default to this pages source code.

Have any of you found copy and paste doesn't seem to be working as well now?

I just right click for copy/paste.

Allan, I'm not sure what happened. I was going to post a 68 F-85 out of Dallas CL with a 344 vin that seemed odd to me for discussion and at only $2700. I went to the CL sticky and it wouldn't let me. I have never had a problem with that or trying to copy/paste a link from one thread to another
and I can't even do that anymore. Seems strange and kinda sucks when trying to help with info for the guys looking. I can still post pics from my camera or my computer though.

I'm used to Ctrl C and Ctrl V, and Ctril A, Ctrl Z, Ctrl B, Ctrl D, Ctrl I, Ctril U, Ctrl Home, Ctrl End...etc
Right clik is also a cool tool as it has something that would be ultimately useful for some posts on these threads. To wit:

Something like this? By the way, where do you get a "344" VIN? It doesn't even list the VIN, just the numbers 15033426 where the ad says "VIN". Obviously that's not an Oldsmobile VIN.

When I go back to paste, I don't have that option any longer.

I'm not very computer savy, so it may take me a while to figure it out. I was however able to copy/paste a pic
for a fellow the other day that thought he may have had a 73 Hurst. Go figure. I know a lot of pics have a security
feature attached to them so you can't copy/paste. I noticed it yesterday when a fellow was asking about an adapter
plate for a 400 turbo from a Chebby to an Olds engine. Of course they have it at Summit, but I couldn't copy/paste, so I let it go.

All to true, but I'm surprised you didn't catch the Branding on the ad. In red boxes to make this painful.... Most likely the poster also doesn't know how to read an old odometer either. No telling how many times it's turned.

Thanks Allan, I'll have to try it.
What's with the new "restore auto-saved content" at the lower left. If you click it after compiling a post,
your post will vanish. Wild weird new stuff!
