Need w25 hood

Hey guys,
Can you guys tell me where the best deal on a W25 hood is. I would like the repro with the steel frame. Someone told me there's one out there for around 1500.00 I need it for a 71.

Thanks, Gary

The W-25 hoods are awesome. I don't know of anyone that has a steel framed one for $1500.00 though. Thorton makes the best hood but, they are expensive. Parts Place and a couple others have fiberglass hoods that are good but, they do need work to make them look good. I went with an all fiber glass hood with softer springs. My body guy put a few hours into it to make it look and fit good. He is a good friend of mine so the cost was not too bad.

What brand of all fiberglass did you get. I have read the fiberglass hood can have lots of issues

I think it was through the Parts Place. It was back in 2007 when I got it. It did need some work but it was worth it. If you can afford the steel frame I would go for that one. It looks better when the hood is up and it is stronger. In my case cost was an issue and it looks pretty good.

I've read that Thornton's is the best from a few people. Does anyone sell one under 2500?

Sure you can find one under 2500.00 but you must also consider what is going to be the additional cost to get it to fit correctly. With a Thornton Hood you don't have that problem. I did not have to do any tweaking on my hood.

I'm pretty sure the ONLY steel-framed 71-72 OAI hood available in the marketplace is made by Thornton, and also sold by Parts Place for $2500. All fiberglass hoods are much cheaper.

The Parts Place has a steel-framed OAI hood for 1970 (works on 1969) that's a pretty nice item for about $750. It would take changes to core support and grilles to work on '71-72 -- but you can make a lot of changes for $1750!

Your other option is a used OEM '71-'72 OAI hood, price will vary with condition, but all should be less than $2500 because the reproduction is that good.
