In need of advice on aftermarket Ram Air Hood!!

I'm wanting to add an Ram Air hood on my 72 cutlass and I know that Thornton's Hood are the best but it is too far out of my budget. I do not want a cheap hood, something in the middle will be fine. ? How many different company sell these hoods and which have good quality? I still would like the use the hood latch as well as the pins. If anyone has purchase a hood PLEASE GIVE ME SOME ADVICE!! Thank you

I have a hood from Tamaraz. (wish I didn't) Right corner sits to low has the wrong curve in it.
I gonna use my old hood for latch area (steel) Cut it out and mount it to the fiberglass
I've heard good things about http://www.glasstek.com/

@ TheNewGuy--I saw some pics on the parts place website. I think they have a steel underbody?? Also, the hood latch doesn't come cut out does it?

Nope, they just advertise they do. They've had that 'call for price' thing for over 3 years now. Every time I do, they say it's still in production and they don't know when it's going to be available. Lost sale X 4

That's for a 70. Different front design than 72. Their price is 789. Maybe the 930 included shipping??

@ Allan R--I plan on calling all these places in the morning. I wish I could afford the Thornton's. I starting to think that it is not meant. I've heard bad and good. the hardest part is making the choice.

Also take a good look at Fibre Concepts. They have a nice looking hood with reinforced metal areas for the hinges and hood lock. I've heard good things about them. http://www.fiberpartsconcepts.com/1285404.html
see CHA 71/72
Call them. The guy to talk to is Rob. 1-800-672-1238

Don't know if you watch the weekend car programs, but you'll find many aftermarket fibberglass body parts have fitment issues like this, requiring extensive filling/filing work to get it right. Very well known problem in the Corvette world, when replacing sagging urethane bumpers with fiberglass repros, on mid/late 70's models.

Glad to hear you had a pleasant buying experience. One of our other members (Boondocker) bought one and he was impressed with what he got. Looking forward to your continued progress on this project.

My old hood was a Glasstek out of the Chicago area.....For the price I could live with the few imperfections my body guy had to deal with........
The biggest was the back lip is to thick for the chrome peice to fit over,I decided this was more of a street/strip car to worry about that so I painted it silver to mimic the look of the strip......I still have the hood but it need fiberglass work on the bolt holes.......I would part with it for the right price.......
