My next purchase

I went to look at a truck tonight. Now not a big thing on an Olds board right? Except it has an Olds 350 and TH400 in it. It has a 350 with 8# heads on it. It has Oldsmobile on the valve covers which I have seen but it also has Oldsmobile cast into the intake which I have not seen. Is that a big thing? Also are the 8# heads that bad? The reason the truck has an Olds engine in it is that it was a Diesel and it was easier to put an Olds V-8 in it. Am I also right in that the TH400 should be a strong trans? Also will it fit in place of my wife's TH350 in her wagon? I hope so because I want to continue using the Jegs crossmember. Love to here what everyone thinks.

Stick,

The logo valve covers and intake indicate a 73-74 motor. The cast iron intakes had "OLDSMOBILE" cast into them for those years.

How strong an engine should it be. I know right now the one exhaust pipe is rusted away after the muffler. And both exhaust pipes are super small. So those two things alone will effect the engine a ton. It did not smoke a lick. I think after a good cleaning, and a new Edelbrock intake and a good tune up and look over it will work nicely. Her car will get this engine, the Rocket Racing valve covers, Edelbrock intake and I have to check the carb that is presently on the truck. But it looks good.My worries are the trans fitting in her car as is.
