Muscle Machines Rocks

Last month we got Lee's. Car on the cover and this month a very special 69 Hurst Olds Prototype. Best car magazine on the planet!

Do you mean Hemmings Muscle Machines? Or was Lee's car in MCR also?

Both are great magazines They give a wide range of attention to all muscle cars. As much as I love hot rod and car craft they don't deliver in the variety department.

how can one get this magazine?

I don't think Lansing has a printed matter store anymore.

Regular stores have lots of magazines for the Jeri-Curl crowd.

Went to the mall the other day, first time in many years..... VACANT.
Hardly any stores still open. Wide open parking lot. Very few customers.

I fixed the title for ya.
I got mine yesterday ant looks to be good reading this weekend.
HMM is a great mag, along with Hemmings Classic Car for thr non-muscle cars.
However I have little time to read mags now and I am letting my subs expire...
I have a pile I have not even touched yet!

Seems like Hemmings Muscle Machines only knows about W30s and H/Os. The early cars dont exist to them.

Apparently HMM has changed tack a little. I let it (and MCR) lapse several years back because all was in it were Chevrolets and both had gotten REALLY hung up on values and auction results. Classic Car is not and has never been that way, so I keep it coming.

I have too much reading material coming and rarely have time to read any of it thoroughly, though I did sit down tonight and read the latest New Yorker cover to cover. That magazine is still a benchmark for outstanding writing and lots of interesting tidbits in there. Not to mention the cartoons...

Thanks for fixing my bad Rob. Both these mags are great reads. I read these Magazines like tasting a fine wine. First I sniff by thumbing through every page front to back. Then I take a lot of small sips and savor the taste by reading each article over time.

Last month or the month before was a great story on an original one of 59 1966 W 30 that was found rotting away in a back yard.

I dropped Hot rod and picked up Hemmings muscle machines, because I was sick of all the 50s and rat rod junk, how many way can you pin stripe a trunk lid.
I like Mopar also and HMM has a good share of them.

I agree on the decent selection of cars in the Hemmings mags. Most are in factory to modified factory form also, which I like. I am not into the 'extreme' stuff.
While not perfect and not for everyone, they are good reads.

magazines

A few years ago when the Canuck Buck was worth $1.07 US I subscribed to 5 magazines. After reading Car Craft, Hot Rod, Popular Hot Rodding , Hemmings Muscle Machines & Muscle Car Review for 4 years I was tired of some of the magazines subject matter.

I recently renewed Hemmings & Muscle Car Review. I let the rest lapse. For stock & near stock muscle cars these are the best two magazines out there. I have nearly every issue of Muscle Car Review back to the early 80s & every issue of Hemmings Muscle Machines since its' inception.

And that story was in Muscle Car Review.

Hemmings hasnt ran a 65 or 67 feature ever. Last 64 or 66 was 4 years ago.

13 features on 70 A bodies. 6 on 68/69 HOs.

Zero on 65, 67, and 69 442s.

Yep you are right it was Muscle car review. You have a great looking example. Send them some pics. I too would like to see a wider variety. Over all they do a good job of spreading coverage of different brands and keeping it mixed up.

The magazine used to be a lot better before Terry McGean took over as editor.

90 out of 120 issues have a photo of a Mopar on the front cover.

I would like to see more 1966-1970 GM E-body cars ( i.e. W-34 Toronados), muscle trucks, and factory hot rods from Down Under.

Except those aren't generally considered to be muscle cars, and there weren't muscle trucks in that era. (yes I know there were plenty of big block trucks).
