Muncie 4 speed

Can anyone help me verify what this transmission is, 10 spline input and 27 spline output shaft. Thanks in advance, Tom

Looks like a ‘64-‘65 main case. The side cover is correct for an early Muncie. The tailhousing is correct for ‘64 and ‘65 and could have been used up to ‘70. I can’t tell much more from your pictures. Take some pictures of the side of the rear of the man case. You should also see “P” followed by for numbers which equal month and day. I know later muncies would have a VIN stamped on the main case but I don’t know about the earlier muncies.

I’ll see if I can find the date code. Thank you.

Muncies are easily Frankensteined. Pull the side cover and count teeth. That's the only way to be sure.

Gotta agree with fleming442. We swapped Muncie parts and cases mercilessly in '60s and '70s when racing and breaking parts. And measure the diameter of the counter shaft pin; easily done at the front of the case. That will tell you if it's an early, '63 thru '65 with 7/8" pin or later with 1" pin.
