Which mufflers would you go with?
I currently have Hooker Aerochamber mufflers in 2.5" with full tail pipes straight out the back. They are droning and too loud. I was thinking about Hooker Maximum Flow mufflers being the exact same dimensions, straight through and 10 db quieter at part throttle.

Then I saw these, similar design and slightly longer and polished.

Thoughts?

I like the Dynomax Muffers as well but find them almost too quiet. I kind of want a straight through muffler on this car, something loud when you get on it but fairly quiet cruising around.

I think this may be the winner at half the price of the Hooker Maximum Flow mufflers.

These options are the same basic design of the 2.5" magnaflows i have on my car. With the stock 350 it was mild at anything less than 50% throttle with very quiet cruise. Now that i have an 11:1 370in cammed lsengine with the same exhaust it is a lot more rowdy sounding but still very reasonable at steady highway speeds, quiet enough to carry a conversation without raised voices.

The reviews state that the Summit 409 Stainless mufflers sound the same as the Magnaflow, just slightly quieter. That is what I want, quiet under light throttle an loud and mean under heavy throttle.

You could just add resonators to your current exhaust for a lot less. Just gotta be creative where to mount em.
I'm tossing the aero chambers for cheap thrust turbo mufflers. On the street I'm not worried about all out performance I toss the mufflers at the track and run the X pipe open. The last few years I have been racking miles up and doing a lot of longer distance driving and the 3.90s and dumps at the rear ale with the aero chambers are over kill.
I have turbo mufflers on my Pontiac and I like the old school stockish rumble. Its quiet but they sound nice.

I loved the Aerochamber on my G body, they sound shitty in comparison on my 70S, loud and droning even with full tail pipes. It might be hard to mount resonators with my exhaust set up and those Summit mufflers will add power if anything.

Difference between the aero chambers and an open x pipe was .1 in the 1/4 mile. car slowed down with open headers. I could have re jetted to really see but as a static test open x pipe for the win and only a .1 loss with mufflers. I have my mufflers set up with header collector rings so I just unbolt them at the track.

Wow, .1 is diddly squat. I thought be a chambered design there would be more power lost. I also have a compact X pipe and Sanderson shorty headers. I actually pulled this exhaust off my G body, it is custom front 2.5" dual pipes routed all under the passenger side into a compact X pipe tied into a Hooker G body 2.5" cat back with custom 2.5" tail pipes for the 70S. I wonder how much resonators drop db or change the tone?

Could get these, supposed to lower the exhaust noise by 5 decibel, he just went over the max at his track, these fixed it.

Or I could get these, would reduce noise and make a nice tip at the end of the pipe, was looking at $100 tips. I am pretty sure they are polished stainless steel with a straight through glass pack design but I would have to expand the inlet 1/4". But they are local and I can actually hold it in my hand.

That is also an option. I may just leave them as is. Either the shape of the underside or less padding in the 70 interior made it louder. I will probably add Trumpet tips and call it good.
