MPG expectations??

'64 Dynamic 88 4-door, 67k miles with 394-2V and a fresh tuneup. What kind of highway MPG should I expect and what would be the best speed for best MPGs?

There's a website called http://www.fuelly.com/ that's supposed to keep track of your gas mileage. I'm not too sure how well it works becuse it requires you to fill the tank to use it, and I usually only buy 10 or 15 dollars worth of gas at a time.

You will probably see mid-teens for mileage, maybe high teens on the road. Could be less.

These cars were not built to be economical, fuel-wise, at least by today's standards.

10-12gal/mile on a good day maybe 13. Is it a 2 or 4 barrel and whats the rear end gear ratio? DO the math. Each time you fill up (full or not) record the gallons and the milage. After you gather say 10 gas receipts then do the math it will give the exact miles-gals your using.

In top tune with good fuel, that car should deliver about 16 mpg in steady speed 60 mph driving. Maybe less depending on gearing but I'm guessing it's somewhere around 2.73. Mixed or city driving will drop it to around 10-12.

I've gotten as much as 19 highway mpg on the blue 64 Starfire before, but the green one has never done better than 14. Keep in mind Starfire engine and 3.42 gearing in those.

I'd guess about the same as what the other guys said, 16-17 on the highway and maybe 12 around town if you have a 3:1 or numerically lower axle ratio.

Never driven the car before, trying to decide between having it shipped and driving it back myself.

How many chances do you get to make a long drive in a car like that?

Drive it. Do you prefer getting felt up by some goon with rubber gloves, then sitting on an airplane for hours with some 4 year old kicking your back?
